Richmond Primary School's Little Learners Program encompasses our youngest learners: three year olds, four year olds, and Junior Kindergarteners! We know just how crucial the early years are to the development of young children, so we have one goal in mind: to provide our youngest learners with purposeful, play-based instruction that fosters curiosity and creative thinking, while being in a safe, nurturing environment. With a 1:8 teacher/student ratio in our three and four year old classrooms, and a 1:10 teacher/student ratio in our Junior Kindergarten classroom, we feel confident that children will thrive socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually.
Our Little Learners will enrich their learning experience through weekly specials: Art, Library, Music, Movement, and Chapel.
Outside vendors will also visit to provide enrichment opportunities for our students.
*We are a fully licensed, Religiously Exempt Child-Day Center through Virginia Department of Education. Annual inspections are conducted by Henrico County Fire, State Health Department. Our license is renewed annually by the VDoE. Our Junior Kindergarten program is designed to prepare students for their rising Kindergarten year. This includes purposeful, play-based instruction that allows for curiosity and creative thinking in a positive, nurturing environment.
We are excited to expand our Junior Kindergarten class to a full day program! Not only are students ready for a full day of school but those who have opted in to the extended care in previous years have shown great success when entering Kindergarten. The longer day will allow for a more cohesive calendar with the main K-5 program and will give children more independence away from home. The Junior Kindergarten class will now meet Monday-Friday from 9:00am-2:30pm. During this time, students receive instruction to gain essential academic and social-emotional skills to prepare for upper schooling. Students are exposed to many different types of learning environments including language & literacy, math, creative arts, Spanish, physical education, pretend play, sensory play and exploration.
We believe play is an important part of a child's learning environment and intertwine it all throughout their day whether structured, unstructured, independent or alongside others.
Students are introduced to our curriculum programs, including Math and structured literacy in Junior Kindergarten.
Junior Kindergarten students have the option to enroll in our Early Bird Care program. Early arrival can begin as early as 8:00am and extended care is available until 5pm. Please visit our Tuition page for additional costs associated with these programs.
